How to configure Server monitor dashboard widget?

The information on this page is verified on Mac OS X Leopard (version 10.5.1)


Install & configure Server Monitor Dashboard Widget in the easy steps as illustrated below:

Download Server Monitor Dashboard Widget (Updated 20080105 23:36:00 GMT)

System Requirements for Server Monitor Dashboard Widget:

  • Mac OS X Tiger onwards
  • Live internet connection
  • Root Internet free OR professional monitoring service account - click here to signup now
    (Note: Free account is designed for evaluating the system only and serves as trial account only. Professional account holders get lot more information on the dashboard than the free account holders because the RSS feed is not available in free accounts which is the base for this widget to work properly)
  • We recommend you to open a trial account and add some web servers/sites to monitor first
  • Please note you should only monitor the web sites and or servers if you are authorised to do so. For example if you are a web master or responsible for web sites / servers

→ Once the download is finished OS should prompt you to install Server Monitor Dashboard Widget - Click on the Install button as shown below and on the screen

→ OS should prompt you and confirm that do you want to keep the Server Monitor Dashboard Widget - Click on the keep button as shown below and on the screen

→ Click on the i button located on the top right hand side of the Server Monitor Dashboard Widget as shown below and on the screen

→ Server Monitor Dashboard Widget should flip to the back area showing something like the dialog below. Enter you Root Internet Account username if you have an account. Click here to signup for a new account if you don't have one.

→ Click on the Done button

Note: Next steps are important otherwise Server Monitor Dashboard Widget may not function as expected

→ Now open web browser type http://monitor.rootinternet.co.uk/ in the address bar and login into your online Root Internet account. Login dialog can be found on the left hand side of http://monitor.rootinternet.co.uk/

→ Using the online Root Internet account shown above add a server or website which you want to monitor using this system. Click here for more information about various types of tests we support. → Enable public report function by following the illustration below (Click on it to see enlarged illustration)

→ You should see the status report of your web server/web site tests which you added onto the system before. The dashboard widget may look like
